Description

Construction Estimating Principles and Application

**Construction Estimating Principles and Application (4 Hours)**
This half-day virtual training—crafted by the industry experts at
UChapter2—is built for estimators who want to sharpen their approach and gain a competitive edge. The course encourages attendees to ask the critical question: “How can we approach this project differently than our competition?”

**Viewpoint 1 – The Estimating Principles Behind Every Bid:**
This open-forum discussion, led by a panel of experienced estimators, explores advanced concepts and current industry models. Participants will examine their own processes through the lens of modern estimating principles.

Learning Objectives:

  • Cost/Price analysis

  • Pricing project constraints

  • How to build flexibility into your system

  • Optimum time to complete

  • Escalation

  • Managing risk within the estimate

  • Danger zones to avoid

**Viewpoint 2 – How Technology Can Produce Faster, More Accurate Estimates:**
In today’s visual-first world, simply showing your understanding of a project can help win the work. This portion of the class demonstrates how digital tools—particularly Bluebeam Revu—can replace highlighters, rulers, and calculators with clear, repeatable workflows. The result? Estimates that are consistent, predictable, and fast, regardless of who’s doing the work. While Bluebeam Revu software may be referenced during the session, this is not a pics and clicks tutorial, it's a deep dive into the mindset and methodology of successful estimating.

Learning Objectives:

  • Working with PDF drawings

  • Calibrating drawings

  • Measurement tools

  • Custom measurement tools

  • Displaying and exporting data

Course Requirements (Technology & Participation) –

Course Requirements (Technology & Participation)

Please ensure you meet the following requirements:

  • Please go to the Revu > About menu in the upper left corner of the Bluebeam interface. You’re required to have Version 2018 or newer for our Bluebeam courses. If this same windows say Unassigned at the top, your IT department needs to assign you a license so you can login and use Bluebeam software. Make sure this is complete prior to class start time.

  • Attendance via tablet or phone is not recommended. You should have a mouse with a scroll wheel when attending this class. In Bluebeam there are several right-click shortcuts, and the wheel will help you zoom in/out on documents.

  • 2-screen computer set-up is recommended. This will allow you to watch the instructor on one screen while practicing on the other.
